Hunger Relief

Community Hunger Solutions provides food that's an essential part of a healthy diet, but we rely on the work and resources of our partner food pantries, food banks, and community meal sites to get the food to community members who need it.

Hunger Task Force of La Crosse is a member of a statewide network of food banks committed to providing free food to partner food pantries. The Hunger Task Force works to eliminate hunger by harvesting community resources and being the voice of the hungry.

Hunger Task Force La Crosse manages a garden where they grow fresh food for local distribution. Community Hunger Solutions also donates seasonal fresh produce to Hunger Task Force. When we receive a donation that's in excess of what we can distribute locally, that bin of cucumbers, carrots, or summer squash (some of the most common) gets offered to La Crosse HTF to extend to their network of partner organizations that covers the entire La Crosse area and into Minnesota!

Like Community Hunger Solutions, Hunger Task Force doesn't charge for food or network membership which helps keep costs down for partner programs.

You'll also find HTF on our page of food rescue partners because they supply Community Hunger Solutions with dairy products from their network of donors (delivered to our facility free of charge!)

The Hunger Relief Federation of Wisconsin, managed by Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee, is a statewide coalition of anti-hunger organizations and advocates who work together to end hunger in Wisconsin. The Hunger Relief Federation is committed to feeding people in need today and advocating for public policies to end hunger tomorrow.

As a member organization of the Hunger Relief Federation, Community Hunger Solutions is connected to a statewide network of grassroots anti-hunger organizations. CHS is able to share excess resources throughout the state and has access to resources from other members. In addition to food resources like dried lentils, yogurt, cheese, and milk, the Hunger Relief Federation connects CHS to additional funding, equipment, and administrative support as well as keeping CHS apprised of changes to state and federal laws that pertain to our work and the work of our local partners. Semi-weekly calls keep the entire network connected.

Through our partnership with the Hunger Relief Federation, CHS has received over $10,000 in funding to purchase food from local farms and a refrigerated delivery vehicle from Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee, the administrator of the Hunger Relief Federation.
